The HBTRC strives to contribute to research on the human brain and brain disorders

(May 15, 2024) -- The HBTRC is experiencing phone outages as of 5/15/2024, and as a result the office is not able to receive incoming calls. Please leave a voicemail to our office with a name and call-back number or call our 24/7 on-call phone at 617-721-7162. Thank you.

Established at McLean Hospital in 1978, we are a centralized resource for the collection and distribution of human brain specimens for research. We receive brain donations from across the US and make tissue samples available to investigators across the world. This research is of critical importance in furthering our understanding of disorders of the nervous system, such as neurological, neurodevelopmental, and psychiatric disorders.

A brain donation is a gift of knowledge
